  A dying woman has blasted Ryanair after
  she was left stranded in a disabled lift at an airport in Malta - while the plane took off without
  her.
  
  Cancer sufferer Kay Walker, 53, had been helped onto an 'ambu-lift' while the other passengers boarded a flight back to
  the UK.
  
  Mrs Walker and her husband Ian, 56, even arrived two hours before they were due to

  use a wheelchair was left at Malta International Airport with
  her 56-year-old husband Ian after they were helped into a
  lift to board their plane but instead watched it leave the 
  
  
  But they realised something was wrong when they heard
  the engines revving while they waited on the tarmac.
  
  Staff at Malta International Airport reassured them the plane would wait for them but moments later they watched in disbelief as
  the plane took off.
  
  Mrs Kay, a former IT teacher who needs a wheelchair due her terminal disease, was even more
  concerned because the luggage, which contained her medication, was
  on board the flight.
  
  The couple were forced to spend an extra night in Malta before they were able to catch a flight

  When they finally got a flight they had to endure a gruelling nine-hour journey to East Midlands Airport via
  Milan before finally arriving home in Chellaston, Derby.
  
  
  The flight was delayed for an hour before Mrs Walker was placed in a lift to hoist her onto the plane alongside her husband and another disabled woman. 
  
  Mrs Walker said: 'For this experience to happen to two disabled people is unforgivable and needs a
  substantial apology.
  
  'All I want off them is to say sorry for them forgetting me and
  leaving us stranded at the airport.
  
  'But they haven't had the decency to do that.
  
  They have just sent me a standard pro forma letter

  Mrs Walker said  the experience is 'unforgivable' and is still demanding an apology from the airline 
  
  
  The couple had spent a week on holiday on the Mediterranean island and were scheduled to fly back at 8pm
  on September 23.
  
  Mrs Walker, who is battling lung cancer, said: 'We were left there a
  while with the assistance people, who were great.
  
  
  
  'Ian said "I can hear the aeroplane revving, it sounds like it is going without us".
  
  
  'The assistance people said that was not the case but then we just sat there and watched

  The couple were forced to spend the night at a hotel in Malta, but Mrs Walker requires between nine and ten hours sleep a night
  because of her condition.
  
  As they needed to be back at the airport to start their replacement flights home,

  Mrs Walker also stressed her upset that as a Rams fan she
  missed the game against Blackburn because of the 'miscommunication'
  between the airport and the flight
  
  
  She said: 'By the time we landed, via Milan airport, it was 4.40pm on the following day.
  
  
  'I am a Rams fan and had to miss the game against Blackburn, which we would not have done had we got on the flight we were supposed to the day
  before.
  
  'I sat there on the aircraft listening to the last
  five minutes of the game on my tablet.'
  
  She said Ryanair had only reimbursed her
  food expenses but she was not interested in getting any money back.
  
  
  She said: 'I have contacted them on a number of occasions through their complaint procedure and all I want from them is an apology.
  
  
  'But they just don't seem interested in acknowledging that
  they forgot me or apologising to me.'
  
  Mrs Walker also wrote a letter of complaint to Aviaserve Ltd, the
  assistance firm based at Malta airport.
  
  They have replied to her apologising for what happened and saying it was 'due to a breakdown of communications'.
  
  
  A spokesman from Ryanair said: 'While we apologise for any inconvenience caused,
  wheelchair services at Malta Airport are operated by Aviaserve on behalf of the
  airport authority - at great expense to the airlines - and Aviaserve are
